Daniel Craig reportedly wants Denis Villeneuve to direct Bond 25

September 24, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Now that Daniel Craig has renewed his license to kill for a fifth and final outing as 007, the search is on for a director to succeed Skyfall and Spectre helmer Sam Mendes for 2019’s as-yet-untitled Bond 25.

While there has been talk that producer Barbara Broccoli is considering a female filmmaker, it was reported back in July that three candidates top Eon’s list: Yann Demange (’71), David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water) and Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049).

Well, according to The Daily Mail, Sicario and Arrival helmer Villeneuve is reportedly the favoured candidate for Daniel Craig, and has held meetings with Craig, Broccoli and producer Michael G. Wilson about boarding the film.

Villeneuve is currently attached to a big screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune, which was thought to be his next project. However, he did state earlier this year that he was looking to take a break after Blade Runner 2049, so it remains to be seen whether Bond 25 could tempt him to jump straight back in to another huge project.
