Dark co-op survival horror Jester: A Foolish Ritual gets a Halloween release

October 21, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Indie developer Fire Foot Studios has announced that their co-op survival horror Jester: A Foolish Ritual will launch on Steam on 31st October, providing the ideal way to spend All-Hallows Eve with friends. Up to four friends can explore a cursed castle while being hunted by a crazed Jester that makes Pennywise look friendly.

Players awaken as a resurrected knight in the dark and gloom of an abandoned castle. The only way to escape this cursed place and see sunlight is to complete a sacred ritual and banish the evil jester that haunts the castle. As players explore the halls, they must be wary of the Jester’s twisted jack-in-the-boxes, as triggering one will summon their worst nightmare. Sneak around, don’t make too much noise, and survive to perform the banishment ritual, and save the kingdom so your knight can return to being peacefully dead.

Whether playing solo, or with up to 3 friends, no two playthroughs will feel alike, with different spawn locations, lingering traps and plenty of unexpected encounters. Each run will offer unique challenges, with more dangerous threats arriving as the Jester adapts to the player’s progress.

Featuring:

  • Face the Jester alone or with 3 friends in a terrifying co-op experience.
  • Communication is limited through proximity voice chat.
  • The Jester has exceptional hearing so too much noise will attract him.
  • Each run is different with new rune locations, different spawns, key locations etc.
  • Several difficulty modes providing different terror levels.
  • Immersive audio design.
  • Adaptive AI allows the Jester to grow more dangerous the closer to completing the ritual.

Jump into Jester: A Foolish Ritual this Halloween and see if you have what it takes to banish the Jester.
