Darth Maul actor is confident about the chances of an Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars movie

May 29, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Darth Maul actor Ray Park is reportedly confident that an Obi-Wan Kenobi anthology movie will happen.

Ray Park, who most famously portrayed villain Darth Maul in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, is a much-beloved performer thanks to his work on that movie. The Phantom Menace isn’t remembered all that fondly but Darth Maul is unquestionably a highlight of the film.

With Solo: A Star Wars Story now released, the question once again turns to what is next for Star Wars outside of Episode IX. A Boba Fett movie is reported to be in the works with Logan director James Mangold but it’s the Obi-Wan movie that many Star Wars fans are really waiting for.

The film has been long speculated about but so far Lucasfilm hasn’t confirmed that it is on the way. Well, apparently Park is very confident that it will happen. Fan David Weizer shared on Twitter that he met Park at a convention, saying the following:

“And the last person I met for the weekend was Ray Park. Very nice guy! Had a chat with him about the character of Darth Maul and various Lucasfilm endeavors. I’m just gonna say he strongly implied that a Kenobi movie will happen so all the reports are PROBABLY legit.”

Of course, this is by no means confirmation and is just a fan sharing his interaction with an actor but those looking forward to seeing Obi-Wan return to the big screen will take any good news they can get.
