DC’s Swamp Thing live-action series aiming to go into production in the fall

June 18, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Warner Bros. announced its initial original programming plans for its DC Universe streaming service last month, with the previously announced Titans and Doom Patrol series set to be joined by another live-action show in Swamp Thing.

Although we’re yet to hear any casting news for Swamp Thing, Omega Underground is reporting that the series is looking to begin production in North Carolina in the fall. Mark Verheiden (Battlestar Galactica) and Gary Dauberman (It) are writing and serving as showrunners on the project, with James Wan (Aquaman) producing.

The official Swamp Thing synopsis reads:

“When CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.”

As yet, there’s been no official announcement as to when we can expect the launch of DC Universe, but DC Entertainment Community Manager Dani Snow has suggested this month that it could well be live as early as August.
