Dexter: Original Sin adds Amanda Brooks in recurring role

August 15, 2024 by Ricky Church

The Miami PD will have a new face in Dexter: Original Sin. Per Deadline, the prequel series has cast Amanda Brooks (Super Pumped) in a recurring role.

Brooks will play Becca Spencer, Captain Aaron Spencer’s ex-wife who shares custody of their son, Nicky. Captain Spencer, played by Grey’s Anatomy veteran Patrick Dempsey, is the captain of the Miami PD precinct where the young Dexter Morgan interns and a friend to his father, Harry Morgan.

The series is set in 1991 and takes us to the early days of Dexter’s career as a forensic blood analyst for the Miami PD as well as a serial killer preying on the city’s criminals. Dexter originally ran for eight seasons and returned in 2021 with the limited continuation series Dexter: New Blood.

However, fans of the series will see Dexter Morgan return once again not just in Original Sin, but in another continuation titled Dexter: Resurrection which will again star Michael C. Hall as Dexter.

“Set in 1991, Miami, Dexter: Original Sin follows Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry (Christian Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.”

The cast of Dexter: Original Sin includes Patrick Gibson as Dexter Morgan, Christian Slater as Harry Morgan, Patrick Dempsey as Aaron Spencer, Molly Brown as Debra Morgan, James Martinez as Angel Batista, Christina Milian as Maria LaGuerta, Alex Shimizu as Vince Masuka, Reno Wilson as Bobby Watt, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Tanya Martin, Joe Pantoliano as Mad Dog, Brittany Allen as Dexter’s biological mother Laura Moser, Randy Gonzalez as Santos Jimenez, Aaron Jennings as Clark Sanders, Raquel Justice as Sofia, Jasper Lewis as Dexter’s adoptive mother Doris Morgan, Carlo Mendez as Hector Estrada, Isaac Gonzalez Rossi as Gio and Roberto Sanchez as Tony Ferrer with Michael C. Hall returning to voice the inner voice of Dexter.
