Director Kevin Greutert returning again for Saw XI

February 6, 2024 by EJ Moreno

As the horror soap opera that is Saw continues, we’re keeping it in the family once again as franchise veteran director Kevin Greutert is back for Saw XI.

Greutert is fresh off the smash hit Saw X from last year and has previously helmed Saw VI in 2009 and Saw: The Final Chapter in 2010. Greutert also served as editor for Saw 1-5 and Jigsaw. Bloody Disgusting broke the story regarding Kevin Greutert’s return.

The tenth Saw film broke all expectations in 2023 and ended its worldwide box office run with an impressive $111.8 million. It received positive reviews from critics and fans and also took home an award at the very first edition of the Flickering Myth Horror Awards.

It was previously reported that Saw X writers Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger would not be back to write the eleventh film. There’s no update on who will pen the script at the time of writing.

The Saw franchise is looking to become the Halloween tradition again as it dominated the 00s with its gory, trap-filled shenanigans that delighted fans for years. With Saw X being so warmly received, look for the filmmakers to keep things going with another horrifyingly fun ride.

Saw XI is set for release on September 27th, 2024.
