Disney’s Snow White delayed a year as first-look image released

October 28, 2023 by EJ Moreno

It seems like Disney is letting the remake of their very first film find its voice in post-production a little longer. As reported by THR, Disney announced they’ll be delaying the release of its live-action Snow White movie starring Rachel Zegler by a year from March 22, 2024, to March 21, 2025. The delay looks to make one of Disney’s most significant projects the anchor of the Spring 2025 slate.

Marc Webb will helm Snow White from a script co-written by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson. The film is set to star Zegler opposite Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen with songs from the La La Land team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

The film has seen a lot of backlash since its announcement. From the casting of the dwarfs to Rachel Zegler’s comments about the project, Snow White has had an uphill battle to find its place. With Disney’s uneven slate of remakes, we shall see what Disney is cooking up with this long-awaited project in 2025.

Originally slated to begin production in 2020, filming began two years later, with Gadot filming her scenes in April 2022. It will take over five years from start to finish for this project to see the light of day.
