Don’t expect to see cameos from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in the movie reboot

September 5, 2016 by Gary Collinson

The Power Rangers are set to make their return to the big screen next year courtesy of Lionsgate and Saban, but any fans of the TV series hoping to see the original cast of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers popping up in cameos will be disappointed to hear that they weren’t approached about appearing in the reboot.

“It’s not likely,” said original Black Ranger Walter Jones when asked by Audibly Exquisite if we’ll see him in the movie (via Comic Book). “Unfortunately, we were not invited to be part of the film, which is confusing to me, but I’m excited about the film nevertheless.”

Jason David Frank, the original Green Ranger, had stated last year that he hoped to be involved in the film, as “there’s no movie without me”.

Power Rangers fans… are you disappointed that it seems Lionsgate and Saban haven’t managed to find cameos for the original cast? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

Power Rangers is set for release on March 24th 2017 and will star Becky G as the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, R.J. Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa and Bryan Cranston as Zordon.
