Variety is reporting that Entourage’s Doug Ellin is teaming up with Donnie Wahlberg and Nick Lachey for a new CBS comedy entitled Encore, which will revolve around members of a boy band who reunite after 20 years.
The inspiration for the series came from Wahlberg and Lachey comparing notes about their lives and past experiences with the boy bands New Kids on the Block and 98 Degrees during a tour in 2013. Ellin is penning the script for the project, as well as executive producing with Wahlberg, Lachey and Eric and Kim Tannenbaum (Two and a Half Men).
Ellin is best known for creating the acclaimed HBO series Entourage, which was inspired by the experiences of Mark Wahlberg as an up-and-coming film star.
