Eiza Gonzalez joins Netflix sci-fi series The Three-Body Problem

August 10, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Days after signing on to portray Mexican film icon Maria Felix in a new biopic, Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver) has now added another project to her upcoming slate in Netflix’s sci-fi series The Three-Body Problem.

The series is based upon Chinese author Liu Cixin’s sci-fi book trilogy and is being adapted by Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with writer Alexander Woo (The Terror: Infamy) and Rian Johnson (Star Wars: The Last Jedi).

Gonzalez – who is coming off a busy 2021 with appearances in I Care A Lot and Godzilla vs. Kong – becomes the first addition to the cast of the series, which marks Benioff and Weiss’ first project since the conclusion to HBO’s Game of Thrones.

The Three-Body Problem follows “Ye Wenjie, who, following her father’s death at the hands of the Red Guards during the Cultural Revolution, attempts to help aliens invade Earth, while different factions on Earth plan different ways of welcoming the extra-terrestrials.”
