Elizabeth Banks will return to direct Pitch Perfect 3

Elizabeth Banks (Love & Mercy) is set to return to the director’s chair of Hollywood’s biggest acapella music franchise for Pitch Perfect 3.

Variety reports that Banks will reprise her role at the helm of the Universal franchise after previous entry Pitch Perfect 2 scored $285m at the worldwide box office, doubling the previous film’s total.

Banks is also set to helm a reboot of the Charlie’s Angels franchise for Sony, which is currently in production.

Franchise stars Anna Kendrick (Into the Woods), Rebel Wilson (Bachelorette) and Anna Camp (The Help) have already signed deals to return, alongside screenwriter Kay Cannon (New Girl).

Pitch Perfect 3 is set for wide release on August 4th 2017.
