Evangeline Lilly worked harder than Paul Rudd when it came to stunts on Ant-Man and the Wasp

June 28, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Evangeline Lilly apparently outshone Ant-Man and the Wasp co-star Paul Rudd when it came to performing the film’s stunts.

The second Ant-Man film might have a crime-fighting duo at its core but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a little friendly competition between the two starring characters. This also seems to have impacted the actors as director Peyton Reed told THR that Lilly was a harder worker on set than Rudd:

“Evangeline is a very physical actor and she takes very seriously the stunt work and the training. Way more so than Paul Rudd,” Reed told The Hollywood Reporter at Monday’s premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre. “She’s in there and really wants to get it right. Every aspect of that character. It was important to her, ‘I want to sweat. A lot of those female heroes they fight and they look great and glam, I want to sweat. I want to have my hair in a ponytail because that’s what I would do.'”

Lilly has always been a physical presence in her acting work, going back to her days on the hit TV show Lost. So it’s not surprising to hear that she’s impressing her colleagues in this department.

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes Ant-Man and The Wasp, a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a super hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.

Ant-Man and The Wasp sees Peyton Reed returning to the director’s chair and stars Paul Rudd (Scott Lang), Evangeline Lilly (Hope Van Dyne), Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), Michael Pena (Luis), David Dastmalchian (Kurt), Abby Ryder Fortson (Cassie Lang), Judy Greer (Maggie), Bobby Cannavale (Paxton) and T.I. (Dave), while new additions to the cast include Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne, Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster/Goliath, Hannah John-Kamen as The Ghost, Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch and Randall Park as Jimmy Woo.
