Exclusive Interview – Isabelle Urganci on Bermuda Island

November 17, 2022 by Gary Collinson

In an exclusive interview, Flickering Myth sat down with Isabelle Urganci to talk about acting, inspirations and her role in Bermuda Island…

Welcome to Flickering Myth! Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi, I am Isabelle Emely Urganci, a Dutch actress with Italian and Turkish roots. I was born in Gelderland, in The Netherlands. I moved to Los Angeles at age 18 in order to attend Edgemar Center of the Arts acting school. I later moved to London and have since returned to live and study acting at UCLA in Los Angeles.

What got you into acting and made you realize that it was your chosen path?

I was very young when I realized I wanted to be an actress. I think I was 10 years old, My parents were always very into movies as well. Every night after dinner we would watch movies. For me it was a moment of getting together and enjoying the movie. When I saw Hunger Games for the first time I realized I wanted to act no matter what. Katniss Everdeen was such a strong woman and got me so inspired to tell stories as well and give people the same feeling she gave me, while watching the film.

What makes you unique?

I am always myself, it sounds so typical but I realized that so many people are not truly themselves. They change behavior whenever someone else is around. I think if you are truly yourself you are very unique.

How would you describe the projects that you typically prefer?

I am really into sci-fi, action and period pieces. For me it would be a dream to star in Game of Thrones or Vikings.

Can you tell us about the movie Bermuda Island?

So, Bermuda Island is an action adventure movie about passengers on their way to a tropical paradise when their airplane crashes at sea, and they find themselves on a deserted island. Desperate to survive the elements and infighting between survivors, they find that the island has more in store for them than they could ever imagine.

What character do you play?

My character’s name is Sarah. She is going with her girlfriends to Puerto Rico for a nice trip. Then the plane goes down and they are stranded on an island, they will have to survive.

What was it like filming on the Island?

Filming on an island was so amazing. We went to Puerto Rico to shoot on the small island called Vieques. The water was so clear and warm, every day I would go in the water for hours. Since we were shooting on the beach 12 hours a day. The only negative thing about shooting on this island were the mosquitos I was allergic of them and needed medication every day.

How can we see the movie?

The movie will be out in theatres in January 2023, ahead of its release on digital platforms.

Do you get to go to the cinema much? Any films you have enjoyed lately?

I do actually! I love going to the cinema. It makes me sad to see that less and less people go to the cinema, since you can watch almost everything from home right now. I really enjoyed the latest Top Gun film with Tom Cruise. What an amazing film.

Finally, any advice you would give any actor who is trying to break into the entertainment industry?

Work hard, connect with people in the industry. Keep finding ways to get into the business, don’t sit and wait for auditions let’s say. You can do so much! Also, when you are on set be the best version of you. Be nice and humble so people want to work with you again. And my last piece of advice would be; stand out of the crowd, make people remember you.

How can people find and follow your journey?

Thank you so much. People can follow me on IMDb and Instagram.

Thanks to Isabelle Urganci for taking the time for this interview.
