Exclusive Interview – Kevin Smith talks Dogma 25th anniversary and teases new Jay & Silent Bob movie

November 6, 2025 by EJ Moreno

Kevin Smith sits down for an exclusive interview with Flickering Myth’s EJ Moreno…

How is it possible that Dogma was already 25 years ago? Kevin Smith is overjoyed by the passage of time, regarding it as propelling his current projects. That hit of nostalgia gets us all going as we head towards whatever else the wild mind of Smith can concoct. Is it possible that the new project, as we advance, is a new entry into the Jay & Silent Bob franchise? It seems so, as cult classic filmmaker teases near the end of our interview that celebrates the release of Kevin Smith’s Dogma: Resurrected.

During our nearly twenty-minute conversation, which you’ll be able to find in full below, Smith gushes over his all-star cast for Dogma. From Alan Rickman to Alanis Morissette, there’s no shortage of stars, and it’s wild to have this caliber of talent so early in the career of Kevin Smith.

None of that seems to pass the filmmaker by, as Smith talks about where he is in his career and how it feels to be someone who straddles the past and present of filmmaking. Check out the interview below, and be sure to follow us on YouTube for more reviews, exclusive interviews, and other video content…

Originally released in 1999, writer & director Kevin Smith unleashed this sharp, irreverent religious satire that sparked conversation, controversy, and cult fandom around the world. In the remastered 4K edition, DOGMA (now coined DOGMA: RESURRECTED) reintroduces audiences to the story of Bartleby (Ben Affleck) and Loki (Matt Damon), two banished angels who seek to exploit a theological loophole and return to Heaven.

The cast includes Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Linda Fiorentino, Alan Rickman, Salma Hayek, Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith, Chris Rock, and George Carlin.

Vertigo Releasing brings Dogma to UK and Irish cinemas on November 7th with a new 25th anniversary 4K restoration.
