Exclusive Interviews – Watchmen: Chapter 1’s Titus Welliver and Katee Sackhoff on playing Rorschach and Silk Spectre

August 19, 2024 by Ricky Church

With Watchmen: Chapter 1 out on digital now and having its 4K UHD and Blu-ray release next week, we sat down with actors Titus Welliver (Bosch) and Katee Sackhoff (The Mandalorian) on their roles as Rorschach and Silk Spectre.

Watchmen is undoubtably one of the most iconic graphic novels ever made with its influence still reaching nearly 40 years after its release. Rorschach is also one of the most recognizable characters in the comic book medium, not just for his visual look but also for his personality and black-and-white world view on good and evil – even if some of his beliefs seem contradictory to each other.

We spoke with Welliver and Sackhoff about joining Watchmen‘s legacy, how they approached these iconic roles and their own love of the comic medium. They also spoke about some of their past roles and how they relate to Watchmen while Welliver also shared a cool story about him and the legendary Jack Nicholson. You can also read my review of Chapter 1 here.

“In an alternate world history set in 1985, the murder of a government-sponsored superhero draws his outlawed colleagues out of retirement and into a mystery that threatens to upend their personal lives and the world itself.”

The voice cast includes: Matthew Rhys (Dan Dreiberg, Nite Owl), Katee Sackhoff (Laurie Juspeczyk, Silk Spectre), Titus Welliver (Rorschach, Walter Kovacs), Troy Baker (Adrian Veidt, Ozymandias), Adrienne Barbeau (Sally Jupiter, Silk Spectre), Corey Burton (Captain Metropolis), Michael Cerveris (Jonathan Osterman, Dr. Manhattan),  Jeffrey Combs (Edgar Jacobi, Moloch), Grey DeLisle, Kelly Hu, John Marshall Jones (Hooded Justice), Max Koch, Phil LaMarr, Yuri Lowenthal (Wally Weaver), Geoff Pierson (Hollis Mason, Nite Owl), Dwight Schultz, Jason Spisak, Kari Wahlgren (Janey Slater), and Rick D. Wasserman (Edward Blake, The Comedian).

Watchmen: Chapter 1 is available on digital now with a physical media release on August 27.
