Exclusive Video: Behind the Score of Disney’s Sprite Sisters with composer Anne-Kathrin Dern

February 18, 2020 by Gary Collinson

In celebration of the recent release of Disney’s Sprite Sisters (Vier zauberhafte Schwestern) we wanted to share with you an exclusive behind the scenes video of the film’s composer, Anne-Kathrin Dern, discussing how the original score was created. Some of Dern’s other credits include The Jade Pendant (which garnered her an IFMCA nomination for Breakthrough Film Composer of The Year), Lilly’s Bewitched Christmas, Help I Shrunk My Parents, as well as her collaborations with Klaus Badelt, most notably Leap! and Wish.

Reflecting on the film score, Anne shared, “Sprite Sisters is my third collaboration with the German film studio Blue Eyes Fiction, this time with Disney as co-producer and distributor on board. It was an immense honor to work with musicians of the Brussels Philharmonic again. Conducting their performance during the recording sessions in Brussels was my absolute highlight of this production. The movie and my music team’s expertise allowed me to write an old-fashioned theme-driven adventure score full of magic and heart. It was also just sheer joy to work the gorgeous film songs into my score and write an orchestral arrangement.”

The film’s soundtrack was released by BMG, and can be listened to on various platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon.
