Expect the unexpected with trailer for mystery-thriller The Third Degree

July 1, 2026 by Amie Cranswick

Ahead of its VOD release this July, a poster and trailer has arrived online for the mystery thriller The Third Degree.

The film centres on William, a man who has invited three of his former classmates to star in a production he has written, but as they gather for a rehearsal in a centuries old theatre, events take a dramatic turn when secrets are revealed and the night spirals out of control, leading to murderous consequences.

Directed by Ryan Little, the film stars James Barrington, Eric Geynes , Tom Hutch, and Nicola Posener. Watch the trailer below…

Four actors rehearse a London play as secrets and rivalries surface, spiraling into deadly twists where reality blurs.

William has written and is directing a murder mystery steeped in Hitchcockian dread and 1920s film noir. To bring it to life, he’s gathered his former classmates from an English Dramatic Academy for a single night of rehearsals inside a creaky, centuries-old London theater. The script is tightly controlled. The cast is hand-picked. What happens next is anything but.

As the night wears on, hidden affairs, buried betrayals, and dangerous ambitions crack the surface. William rewrites scenes on the fly, manipulating his fellow actors’ egos and desires as deftly as he manipulates the characters on the page. Flashbacks to 1922 blur the boundaries between then and now, between fiction and something far more sinister unfolding in real time.

What began as a rehearsal becomes a trap. In twist after twist, the four actors try to outwit each other — until the violence stops being theatrical. By the final act, no one in the room, and no one watching, can be certain who is performing and who is in genuine danger.

The Third Degree is set for release on July 10th.
