Explore the planet of Arrakis with Dune: Awakening video

March 14, 2025 by Andrew Newton

With the launch of Dune: Awakening set for 20th May, Funcom has released a new video that takes a look at the world of Arrakis and showcases the scale and scope of this planet. Watch the new video below to explore this desert world…

Despite Arrakis being classed as a desert planet, there is surprisingly a lot of variety.  Players will be able to explore the world by using their personal scanner and vehicle modules to reveal the resources of their local surroundings, or by climbing a high peak and launching a survey probe that will fill large portions of the map and include points of interest, such as shipwrecks or ecology labs.

Arrakis is a tantalising world, it beckons explorers in with promises of riches and power from the valuable Spice resources but can also bring fatal planetary storms that change the map to reveal new resources and locations while burying the old.  Players can scout this new land to create maps that they can then sell on the Exchange to other players.

Dune: Awakening takes players to Arrakis, the most dangerous planet in the Dune universe. On this deadly world, players will not only find scorching hot deserts and lethal Sandworms but also unparalleled beauty. Players will need to build up their influence over the planet through constructing huge bases, controlling the Spice flow and defeating the opposition in battle.

Players will be able to jump into Arrakis on 20th May. The Character Creator & Benchmark Mode can be downloaded from Steam now so players can fully prepare their character ahead of launch.
