Famke Janssen “very open” to another X-Men appearance as Jean Grey if Marvel comes calling

July 19, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Although Marvel Studios is yet to unveil its plans for the Children of the Atom following Disney’s 20th Century Fox acquisition, it would seem the least likely scenario (Deadpool aside, perhaps) would be to continue the X-Men franchise that Fox established over the past two decades.

Nevertheless, that hasn’t stopped a number of stars from the series from expressing their interest in returning to the property, and now Famke Janssen has also joined that list, the Jean Grey actress admitting to The Observer that she believes it’s unlikely Marvel would want her back but she’s “very open to it” if the offer was on the table.

“I think the question is more if they would have any interest in bringing me back,” states Janssen. “With X-Men: Days of Future Past, there was a surprise way of reintroducing certain characters that had been killed off. In some people’s cases, it was to bring them back as well as the younger versions of their characters. I’d be curious to see what happens [with Marvel]. But, yes, I would be very open to it.”

It’s surely safe to assume that Marvel Studios will be looking to introduce its own versions of Jean and the X-Men when the mutants finally arrive in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, with the concept of the multiverse established – and soon to be expanded with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – perhaps some kind of crossover or cameos from the Fox cast isn’t entirely beyond the realm of possibility at some point down the line?
