Fifty Shades of Grey receives an R rating from MPAA

January 8, 2015 by Thomas Roach

The movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey has now received its rating from the MPAA. They have rated the movie R for “strong sexual content including dialogue, some unusual behavior and graphic nudity, and for language.”

It was unknown whether or not the filmmakers would be loyal to the book by including strong sexual content or if they would opt for a lower rating in order to increase ticket sales.

Fifty Shades of Grey stars Jamie Dornan (The Fall) as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson (Need For Speed) as Anastasia Steele, while the rest of the cast includes Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty), Luke Grimes (Taken 2), Victor Rasuk (24), Max Martini (Pacific Rim), Callum Keith Rennie (Battlestar Galactica), Eloise Mumford (In The Blood), Marcia Gay Harden (Mystic River) and musician Rita Ora.

Fifty Shades of Grey is set for release on February 14th.
