First image of Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep in Steven Spielberg’s The Post

20th Century Fox has released the first image from The Post, the new film from Steven Spielberg, which sees the legendary filmmaker teaming with Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep.

The Post deals with The Washington Post’s instrumental role in lobbying the United States government to release the Pentagon Papers, a Department of Defense study into the U.S.’ involvement in Vietnam, which turned the tide of public opinion about the war.

In addition to Hanks and Streep, the film features a cast that includes Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Pat Healy, Tracy Letts, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, Jesse Plemons, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bradley Whitford and Zach Woods.

The Post is set for release in the States on December 22nd.
