FPS Battalion 1944 is free to play this weekend

October 3, 2019 by Andrew Newton

Square Enix Collective has revealed that the World War Two themed first person shooter, Battalion 1944, will be free to play this weekend on Steam.  Starting today players can sign into their account on Steam and take part in the full game and features, including Rifles Only free for all special event and unranked Wartide mode.

Battalion 1944 is an FPS that captures the feel of the classics as players take part in multiplayer combat through attack and defend scenarios.  Taking the role of a member of the US, German or Soviet forces, players will wield a wide variety of period specific weaponry, from precision bolt action rifles to swift submachine guns.

This FPS features:

  • FACEIT’s competitive toolset providing competitive matchmaking, tournaments, rankings and leaderboards.
  • 5v5 Wartide – Sees teams fight to see who wins 16 rounds first.
  • 1v1 Showdowns.
  • Arcade run and gun modes such as Capture the flag.
  • Complete challenges, earn medals, increase your rank and show off your position on the leaderboards.
  • In-game replay tools allow you to refine strategies.
  • Various mod tools and dedicated server files

A new season is also ready to start and alongside this, there will be special in-game missions over the weekend, making this a great time to try the game out.

Battalion 1944 is free to play now and will run until 7th October.  During this time players will be able to purchase the game with 50% off at £7.99/$9.99/€9.99.
