Gary Whitta to adapt Mark Millar’s Starlight for Fox

September 19, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Fresh from bagging scriptwriting duties on Gareth Edwards’ (Godzilla) standalone Star Wars movie, The Hollywood Reporter has now revealed that Gary Whitta (Book of Eli, After Earth) will pen an adaptation of Mark Millar and Goan Parlov’s Millarworld comic book series Starlight.

Starlight #1 was released back in March through Image and tells the story of Duke McQueen, an aging space hero who once saved the universe before returning to Earth where his heroic tales were met with disbelief. Years later, he finds himself recruited for one last adventure.

Fox’s adaptation of Starlight will be produced by Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class), who is also attached to produce another of Millar’s projects in Kindergarten Heroes. As yet, there’s no word on a release date for either movie.
