Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire release date moved up by one week

January 10, 2024 by Ricky Church

Sony has shifted the release date for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, but unlike many of their recent date changes the film has not been delayed. Rather, its release has moved up by one week.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the anticipated sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife, was scheduled for a March 29th, 2024 release but will now arrive in theatres on March 22nd. The reason for the move up hasn’t been given, but March has a fairly open release window for movies as the only major releases are Dune: Part Two, which releases on March 1st, and the Ghostbusters sequel.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire finds the Spengler family returning to where it all started, the iconic New York City firehouse, to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire sees McKenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, Celeste O’Connor and Logan Kim reprise their Ghostbusters: Afterlife roles alongside franchise veterans Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd with franchise newcomers Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will be released on March 22nd, 2024.
