Greg Berlanti says the Booster Gold movie is not part of the DC Extended Universe

September 8, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Back in May it was revealed that DC TV producer Greg Berlanti is attached to a Booster Gold movie, which is being scripted by Zack Stentz (Thor, X-Men: First Class).

Well, it seems that – as it stands at the moment – the project won’t be part of the wider DC Extended Universe, with Berlanti telling Vulture that: “As of right now we have no connective tissue to those worlds. It’d be a separate thing.”

Berlanti went on to reveal that the film has emerged from an aborted TV project that he was developing for Syfy with Andrew Kreisberg, which was ordered way back in 2011. After talks with DC Entertainment chief creative officer – and DC Films boss – Geoff Johns, it was then decided to focus on bringing the character to the big screen.

If you’re unfamiliar with Booster Gold, he is the alter-ego of Michael Jon Carter, a 25th century Gothamite and glory-seeker who steals some hi-tech equipment and travels back in time to the present day in order to find fame and fortune as a superhero.
