Guillermo del Toro almost made a cameo appearance in It Chapter Two

August 28, 2019 by Liam Waddington

Andy Muschietti, director of It Chapter Two, has recently confirmed in an interview with SlashFilm that he was very close to having Guillermo del Toro make a cameo appearance in the upcoming sequel. However, due to scheduling issues, the cameo just wasn’t meant to be.

According to Muschietti, the cameo would have seen del Toro play the janitor that Ben (Jeremy Ray Taylor) would have run into while running away from Pennywise during a flashback sequence.

“I wanted Guillermo in the movie. Guillermo del Toro. We were this close. He was going to play the janitor that Ben runs into when he’s running away from Pennywise. Yeah. That scene, of course, would have been like five minutes longer if Guillermo was in it.”

This wouldn’t have been the first collaboration between the pair as del Toro produced the 2013 horror movie Mama – which marked the directorial debut of Muschietti. Additionally, Jessica Chastain also played the lead in Mama, and has now reunited with Muschietti to play Beverly in It Chapter Two.

Would you like to have seen a del Toro cameo appearance in the upcoming It sequel? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @flickeringmyth…

It Chapter Two is set to be released on 6th September and will see Bill Skarsgard reprising his role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, while Jessica Chastain (Beverly), James McAvoy (Bill), Bill Hader (Richie), James Ransone (Eddie), Andy Bean (Stanley), Jay Ryan (Ben) and Isaiah Mustafa (Mike) star as the adult versions of The Losers’ Club. The younger versions of The Loser’s Club includes Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Chosen Jacobs who are set to reprise their roles from the first movie in flashback sequences.
