Gun-fu galore in first Spine gameplay trailer

November 30, 2023 by Andrew Newton

At this year’s PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted, developer Nekki unveiled the first gameplay trailer for their upcoming gun-fu action game Spine.  This new trailer can be seen below and showcases the game’s futuristic cyberpunk world, the combat system and the spectacular close quarter gunfights.

In the games single-player action-filled story, players take the role of rebellious street artist Redline accompanied by her sentient combat implant known as Spine.  Together the pair challenge the authority of the autocratic AI regime of Tensor Corporation while at the same time coming to trust each other.

As players progress through the game and improve their relationship with their AI friend, they will find that Redline’s reflexes improve and also gain stunning combos which they can use to improve their approach to the Tensor Corporation.

Spine features:

  • A unique blend of cinematic gunplay and close-combat beat ’em up.
  • Cinematic camerawork created in conjunction with action movie specialists and paying homage to some iconic action movies.
  • A gripping story of rebellion, trust and survival against an unscrupulous autocratic regime.
  • Fluid, lifelike combat animations thanks to Unreal Engine 5 and Nekki’s proprietary animation engine, Cascadeur.

“We are thrilled to unveil Spine and invite players to experience what we hope would be a new level in cinematic action gaming,” says Dmitry Pimenov, producer of Spine. “From John Wick to District 13, we adore those films so much, and want to make this game an ode to our favourite movie genres.”

Spine is available to wishlist on Steam.
