Halloween franchise up for sale as Miramax listens to offers for Michael Myers

September 26, 2023 by Matt Rodgers

Michael Myers is never really dead is he? Even following the definitively titled Halloween Ends, we all kinda knew that the Shatner-masked slasher would return, especially when you consider the fact that the David Gordon Green-directed Universal/Blumhouse trilogy earned almost $500 million at the worldwide box-office.

Now that the rights have reverted back to Miramax, the studio are reportedly open to offers for the Halloween IP, which could mean more movies and a potential TV series for Michael Myers to silently stride through, wreaking havoc on Trick or Treaters and babysitters.

According to Bloody Disgusting, Miramax are actively shopping the rights to the franchise around Tinseltown, and that a major bidding war is under way to resurrect Michael Myers.

The story states that Miramax are listening to pitches from both studios and streaming services, and are open to the idea of film and television projects following the conclusion of the David Gordon Green trilogy.

While Ends was the final outing for Jamie Lee Curtis as scream-queen Laurie Strode, the franchise has had so many new beginnings since John Carpenter’s 1978 original that a reboot in same ‘shape’ was bound to happen.
