Halo producer says Microsoft won’t make Halo movie unless it pushes plot forward

July 30, 2014 by Tom Powter

Kiki Wolfkill, executive producer of Halo, has big plans for Microsoft’s flagship series, explaining how she wants to “transform” the way people see the franchise. “Our next step is to try and make the connections between the game and its linear entertainment aspects even more experiential<,” Wolfkill said. “I want to transform how people experience Halo in their living rooms and on their PCs.”

Talking about the potential to move the series into film, Wolfkill makes it clear that Microsoft wants the content to add to the overall narrative. Despite that, Halo is being adapted in a multitude of other ways – Halo: Nightfall, Ridley Scott’s live-action series was debuted at Comic-Con this past weekend [watch the footage here], while another TV series produced by Steven Spielberg is supposedly on the way.

Following 2012’s Forward Unto Dawn, Nightfall and Spielberg’s unannounced series are the second and third live-action Halo series respectively.

The next game in the Halo series is Halo 5: Guardians, a beta for which launches alongside Halo: The Master Chief Collection later this year.
