Hayley Atwell shares her thoughts on Captain America and Sharon Carter kiss

June 6, 2016 by Gary Collinson

During an appearance at Dallas Comic Con Fan Expo, Hayley Atwell was asked what Peggy Carter would have made of the kiss between Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Peggy’s niece Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) in Captain America: Civil War, with the Agent Carter star offering up a rather light-hearted response.

“Well, first of all she’d be turning over in her grave,” replied the Agent Carter star. “She’d be like ‘no.’ And she’d inject herself with the blue serum and become a super villain. She’d break out of her coffin and ground [Sharon]. She’d ground her. Then she’d kick Steve’s ass as well.  I just feel that, you know – I wouldn’t want to date my great aunt’s guy. It just feels like it crosses an incestuous boundary. And Peggy just died. That’s even more disrespectful, right? It’s like, ‘don’t touch that.” You can’t tap that! She’d want the best for her and she’d want her dating a good guy. And now with this whole ‘Hail Hydra” business, I don’t know if Steve’s good enough for her. So on all levels, it’s just a big fat no.”

What did you make of the kiss between Steve Rogers and Sharon Carter? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
