He’ll Be Back! Arnold Schwarzenegger to reunite with James Cameron on next Terminator movie

May 20, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Paramount Pictures may have pulled the plug on its planned Terminator Genisys sequels in the wake of the poor box office performance of the 2015 sequel/reboot, but it seems we haven’t seen the last of Arnold Schwarznegger’s T-800 as the action icon has revealed that he’ll be reuniting with franchise creator James Cameron once the rights revert back to the filmmaker in 2019.

“It is back,” Schwarzenegger told Screen Daily when asked about the status of the franchise. “It is moving forward. [Cameron] has some good ideas of how to continue with the franchise. I will be in the movie.”

Cameron will of course be too occupied by his four Avatar sequels to take on the reins of the next Terminator film himself. However, it was revealed back in January that he plans to “godfather” the film, and has been in talks with Deadpool director Tim Miller to helm the project, which is being described as a “reboot and conclusion” to the franchise.

Are you excited about the prospect of seeing Arnold back as the Terminator? Can the return of James Cameron save the ailing franchise? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
