The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies holds on to top spot at the UK box office for the third weekend

UK box office top ten and analysis for the weekend of Friday 26th to Sunday 28th December 2014…

Peter Jackson’s final voyage to Middle-earth, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, closed out the UK box office chart of 2014 by retaining the crown for the third consecutive week, pulling in £4.25 million to push its UK haul to £28 million and counting.

In terms of the new releases, Ridley Scott’s Exodus: Gods and Kings was the best of the bunch, debuting in second place with £2,607,453, followed by musical remake Annie in fourth with £2,310,453 and the Angelina Jolie-directed Unbroken in seventh with £656,991.
