Horror Channel FrightFest Review – Attack of the Adult Babies (2017)

August 27, 2017 by admin

Attack of the Adult Babies, 2017

Directed by Dominic Brunt
Starring Kurtis Lowe, Andrew Dunn, Sally Dexter, Joanne Mitchell, Nicky Evans, Thaila Zucchi, Seasmus O’Neill, Charlie Chuck, Kate Coogan, Mica Protor, Keith Nahon

SYNOPSIS:
A home invasion forces two teenagers to break into a remote country manor and steal Top Secret documents. Little do they know the stately pile is also the venue where a group of high-powered middle-aged men go to take refuge from the stresses of daily life by dressing in nappies and indulging their every perverse nursery whim.

You have never seen a film like Attack of the Adult Babies – that is a guarantee.

Playing out like a blood and faeces soaked version of Benny Hill, Attack of the Adult Babies sees a family forced to infiltrate a manor house which just so happens to be hosting the most rich and powerful men in the country who like to dress up in diapers while being looked after buxom women in nurse outfits. They’re also drinking milk that is slowly turning them into pigs. And there’s chainsaws involved. And an intermission that is far too long. And, honestly, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

It’s difficult to know where to being when writing a review of Attack of the Adult Babies. It’s farcical to a ridiculous degree, and director Dominic Brunt knows just what buttons to press to entertain his audience and then shock them in equal measures. Like Jon Waters’ Pink Flamingos, it’s hard to take your eyes off Attack of the Adult Babies as you’re constantly wondering where it could possibly go next. And just when it does arrive at its next destination, you never quite believe it.

Attack of the Adult Babies features a very impressive cast with well-known faces. Are they giving good performances? It’s impossible to know. The film is such a farce that even if someone was turning in a stellar performance, it’s overshadowed by some cannons firing shit against a wall. Everyone is hilarious though, that much is for sure.

It won’t be to everyone’s cup of tea – particularly towards the end of the picture where the film goes to places it doesn’t even know exist – but Attack of the Adult Babies is funny. Really funny, in fact. It easily passes the six-laugh test, even if some of those chuckles are nervous ones due to the madness unfolding on screen. There is a theory that if you’re having too much fun making a movie then the audience won’t be in on the joke, but it looks like Attack of the Adult Babies was a blast to make and it shows in the final product.

Listen, if the title or idea of this movie repulses you, I would recommend staying as far away as humanly possible from Attack of the Adult Babies. It just won’t be for you and you’ll have a horrible time. But if you’re into the idea of some innocent people being chased by chainsaw wielding maniacs in PVC nurse outfits and fat rich white men in nappies who often defecate – with some bizarre nonsense in the final third – then Attack of the Adult Babies is right up your alley. It’s a horrible, disgusting alley, but some will call it fun.
