J.J. Abrams and Jennifer Garner’s My Glory Was I Had Such Friends is scrapped

August 22, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

One minute you’re writing about how many small-screen projects J.J. Abrams has on the go, the next you’re ticking them off as they’re cancelled, such is the world of television at the moment.

Following the news that HBO had dropped his long-in-the-offing sci-fi series Demimonde for budgetary reasons, comes the story that Jennifer Garner has exited their Alias reunion My Glory Was I Had Such Friends, which has prompted Apple not to move forward with the limited series.

Deadline reports that Garner left the show, which was first announced in 2018, for scheduling reasons and as a result, Apple TV has opted not to go forward with the project.

Based on Amy Silverstein’s 2017 memoir, My Glory Was I Had Such Friends “showcases the power of friendship and the resilience of the human spirit as it follows an extraordinary group of women who supported Silverstein as she waited for a second life-saving heart transplant.”

Garner is currently busy filming another Apple TV limited series with The Last Thing He Told Me, a thriller starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones), Aisha Tyler (Fear The Walking Dead) and Angourie Rice (The Nice Guys).

The cancellation leaves J.J. Abrams with only Justice League Dark, Constantine, and Madame X in the works for HBO Max, his much talked about Superman reboot for Warner Bros, and a live-action Speed Racer adaptation for Apple TV.
