J.J. Abrams on the pressure of directing Star Wars: The Force Awakens

January 7, 2015 by Gary Collinson

It is without doubt one of the most anticipated movies of 2015, and indeed the entire decade, and so it goes without saying that launching Disney’s Star Wars sequel trilogy with The Force Awakens must be a daunting prospect for director J.J. Abrams. During an interview with MTV, the director has spoken about the pressure of helming Episode VII, as well as taking the opportunity to praise his cast and crew…

“It is without question an intense and terrifying prospect. It’s the opportunity I think that’s greater than the fear. Greater than the risk, and so I’m more excited about the work that everyone has done on the movie and this incredible cast… It was an amazing experience making this movie for everyone. There was a sort of weird buzz in the air when we were making it, but we were all just aware of how hard we had to work to make it something worthy of people’s time.”
