Jennifer Jason Leigh joins The Hateful Eight as the female lead

Jennifer Jason Leigh has joined Quentin Tarantino’s latest film The Hateful Eight. She is set to play the character Daisy Domergue aka ‘The Prisoner’, who is the female lead of the film. Rumours had circulated for a while that Jennifer Lawrence had been approached to play the role, but as the age gap between Jason Leigh and Lawrence is rather substantial there was likely no truth to the report.

Amber Tamblyn, who briefly appeared in Tarantino’s last film Django Unchained, read for Daisy during the live script reading earlier this year. However, it appears she has missed out on playing the role in the film, although Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Walton Goggins, and Samuel L. Jackson are all still expected to reprise their characters.

The Hateful Eight will shoot in December in Telluride Colorado and is set for release in December 2015.
