Jennifer Lawrence to take a year’s break from acting

February 19, 2018 by Gary Collinson

With her new film Red Sparrow set to open in March, Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence has revealed to Entertainment Tonight that she plans to take a year off from acting in order to focus on politics and help “fix” democracy in the United States.

“I don’t have anything set for two years,” said Lawrence. “I’m going to take the next year off. I’m going to be working with this organization as a part of Represent.US… trying to get young people engaged politically on a local level. It doesn’t have anything to do with partisan [politics]. It’s just anti-corruption and stuff trying to pass state by state laws that can help prevent corruption, fix our democracy.”

According to EW, Lawrence will return to work once one of several upcoming projects in development is ready to go, with the actress attached to seven planned films, including Ron Howard’s Zelda Fitzgerald biopic Zelda, Luca Guadagnino’s Burial Rights, Adam McKay’s Bad Blood, and an untitled film alongside Amy Schumer.
