Jeremy Renner still keen on Aaron Cross return in The Bourne Legacy sequel

August 14, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Although plans for a sequel to the Jeremy Renner-headlined The Bourne Legacy were put on hold when Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass decided to return to the franchise for Jason Bourne, director Justin Lin revealed earlier this month that the project is technically still in development. And now, in an interview with Collider, Renner has revealed that he’s still open to reprising the role of Aaron Cross should the opportunity arise.

“I really really enjoyed shooting that movie, and so my desire and will in wanting to do that is yes, but it has to be… an audience has to want that and the studio. There’s a lot of other people. It’s kind of outside my pay grade to make those decisions, but yeah I’d want to do that.”

Given the rather poor reception to Jason Bourne, the future of the franchise seems a little up in the air at the moment. Producer Frank Marshall has previously stated that he’s hoping to entice Matt Damon back for another outing, so it would appear pretty unlikely that we’ll be getting a sequel to The Bourne Legacy any time soon, if ever. Still, that’s not to say that Aaron Cross couldn’t make an appearance alongside Damon’s Bourne at some point.

Do you want to see Renner back as Aaron Cross, or is it time the Bourne series called it a day? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
