John Boyega gives a brief update on Pacific Rim 2

August 22, 2016 by admin

Not content with just his movie about the Detroit riots or that little-known sci-fi saga Star Wars, John Boyega is gearing up to jump in a Jaeger and battle Kaiju in Pacific Rim 2 (at one point was titled Pacific Rim: Maelstrom). Though it won’t go into production for a while yet, the actor took to Twitter to announce he’s visited the Legendary Pictures office to get an update.

“Still not done with Detroit riots movie but quickly stopped by in LA to check on Pacific rim,” the actor notes. “It’s coming together!”

After being in Development Hell for some time, Pacific Rim 2 was officially announced last month after Boyega joined the cast. He will also act as a producer on the movie alongside original director Guillermo del Toro.

Pacific Rim 2 will hit cinemas on February 23rd 2018 and will be directed by Steven DeKnight (Daredevil) with a script by Derek Connolly (Jurassic World), Emily Carmichael (Stryka) and Kira Snyder (The 100). John Boyega (Star Wars: Episode VIII) will lead a cast alongside a rumoured Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) and Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad).
