John Krasinski and Matthew Rhys to lead Silent River thriller series for Amazon

November 26, 2024 by Ricky Church

John Krasinski is returning to Amazon MGM for Silent River, a thriller drama series where he will be joined by Matthew Rhys (The Americans) as the leads.

Told through the lens of two men whose lives are far more connected than they realize, Silent River explores the cracks of small-town America in the wake of discovering a serial killer among them.

Krasinski and Rhys will lead the series as the two men with Krasinski directing the pilot and potentially other episodes as well as executive produce through his company Sunday Night alongside Allyson Seeger.

Silent River was created by Aaron Rabin and will be directed by Andrew Bernstein. The pair will also serve as executive producers, both of whom worked with Krasinski on Amazon’s political espionage thriller Jack Ryan where Bernstein directed episodes of the second season while Rabin was a writer for the fourth and final season.

“We are thrilled to continue our work with John Krasinski, Allyson Seeger, and Sunday Night on this gripping series, which delves into the mysteries and secrets of small-town America,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television for Amazon MGM Studios. “With John and Matthew Rhys attached to star in this wonderful story from Aaron Rabin, our global customers will be on the edge of their seats throughout this thought-provoking, psychological thriller.”

Rhys is most known for starring in the FX Cold War spy drama The Americans as well as A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, Cocaine Bear and Perry Mason.

Krasinski is best known for the US remake of The Office, but has begun directing his own projects beginning with A Quiet Place and more recently IF. Though Jack Ryan concluded its four-season run last year, Amazon MGM Studios recently announced plans to continue the show through a Jack Ryan feature film, which will see Krasinski reprise his role as Tom Clancy’s most famous character. The film will be written by Rabin with Bernstein directing.
