John Woo remakes his own 80s classic with The Killer trailer

July 16, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

Peacock has released the trailer for legendary Hong Kong filmmaker John Woo’s remake of his 1989 action-classic The Killer.

Nathalie Emmanuel (Game of Thrones) stars as the gender-flipped titular assassin made famous by Chow Yun-Fat, who is being pursued by Omar Sy’s persistent detective following an assignment gone awry.

Woo directed from a script written by Matthew Stuecken, Josh Campbell (10 Cloverfield Lane), and Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential). Starring alongside Emmanuel and Sy are an ensemble that includes Eric Cantona, Saϊd Taghmaoui, Tchéky Karyo, Grégory Montel, Angeles Woo and Aurélia Agel. Check out the trailer below…

From the Oscar® winning producer of Oppenheimer, the kinetic action thriller stars Emmy nominee Nathalie Emmanuel (The Fast Saga, Game of Thrones) as Zee, a mysterious and infamous assassin known, and feared, in the Parisian underworld as the Queen of the Dead. But when, during an assignment from her shadowy mentor and handler (Avatar’s Sam Worthington), Zee refuses to kill a blinded young woman (Diana Silvers; Ma, Booksmart) in a Paris nightclub, the decision will disintegrate Zee’s alliances, attract the attention of a savvy police investigator (Golden Globe nominee Omar Sy; Jurassic World franchise, Lupin), and plunge her into a sinister criminal conspiracy that will set her on a collision course with her own past.
