Johnny Knoxville and Tony Shalhoub to voice Leonardo and Splinter in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

April 3, 2014 by admin

With some reshoots currently underway on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ahead of its (supposed) August release, it’s now been announced that Johnny Knoxville (Jackass Presents Bad Grandpa) and Tony Shalhoub (Monk) have signed on to lend their voices to Leonardo and Splinter, who were performed on set by Pete Ploszek (Parks and Recreation) and Danny Woodburn (Seinfeld) respectively.

According to Deadline, director Jonathan Leibesman (Wrath of the Titans) and Michael Bay (Transformers: Age of Extinction) were always open to changing the characters’ voices, and that the actors were only guaranteed to physically perform the roles in costume.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is set for release in North America on August 8th and here in the UK on October 17th and also stars Megan Fox (Transformers) as April O’Neil, Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) as Raphael, Jeremy Howard (How the Grinch Stole Christmas) as Donatello, Noel Fisher (Battle Los Angeles) as Michaelangelo, William Fichtner (The Dark Knight) as The Shredder, Will Arnett (The LEGO Movie) as Vernon Fenwick, Whoopi Goldberg (Ghost) as Bernadette Thompson, and K. Todd Freeman (The Dark Knight) as Baxter Stockman. Watch the first trailer here.
