Karen Fukuhara rumored to play Plastique in Suicide Squad

March 31, 2015 by James Garcia

According to Latino Review’s El Mayimbe, newcomer Karen Fukuhara may have landed a minor role in Suicide Squad as explosion-projecting Firestorm villain Plastique. Mayimbe jump-started the rumor on his Instagram page, clarifying that it’s unconfirmed at this time:

Mayimbe describes the part as “a minor role on the actual Squad,” explaining that she’s present in a nightclub scene. With pre-production in the final stages, it’s likely that that’s all the screentime Plastique will really have, either as a cameo or as one of the Squad members who gets her head blown off after disobeying Amanda Waller’s orders.

Directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad is set for release on August 5th 2016, and features a cast that includes Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop) as Rick Flagg, Will Smith (Hancock) as Deadshot, Jai Courtney (Terminator: Genisys) as Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) as The Joker, Viola Davis (How to get Away with Murder) as Amanda Waller, Scott Eastwood (Fury) as Steve Trevor, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Thor: The Dark World) as Killer Croc and Ray Olubowale (Resident Evil: Afterlife) as King Shark. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Jesse Eisenberg is also expected to reprise the role of Lex Luthor, while Jay Hernandez (Hostel) has signed on for an unspecified role.
