Kelsey Grammer says Frasier revival is “in the early stages” and “all talk at this point”

August 8, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Last week it was reported that Kelsey Grammer is currently exploring a revival of the Emmy Award-winning comedy series Frasier, and is said to be actively meeting with writers about concepts for the potential series.

Speaking to SlashFilm at the Television Critics Association panel, Grammer has offered a few more details, revealing that the idea is in its very earliest stages, but he is very keen to do a “full-blown season” if they can come up with the right concept.

“It’s all talk at this point,” said Grammer. “[Frasier] left for Chicago when he was [in Seattle] in the last show. We have no idea what happened to him after that. I think NBC may not be interested… It just might go somewhere else if that were the case. It’s in the early stages. I have a wonderful life. I’ve played Frasier for 20 years. It might happen again, it might not. He was a wonderful character to play. I don’t miss him necessarily because I’m playing some great stuff now so I’m having a lot of fun.”

“Honestly, the work is great once you start doing it,” he continued. “Multicam is fantastic. You have a great life and you have a good career at the same time. There’d be nothing wrong with doing a full-blown season if that were the case. We just have to make sure it’s going to be a great show. If it’s not a great show, if we don’t hear a pitch that really hits it out of the park, it probably won’t happen.”

Are you intrigued by the prospect of a new Frasier series? Let us know in the comments…
