Kevin Bacon joins the cast of Patriot’s Day

April 1, 2016 by Scott J. Davis

After news broke earlier in this week that Michelle Monaghan had joined the cast of upcoming drama Patriot’s Day, it is now being reported that Kevin Bacon (The Following) has signed on for a key role in the film.

Based on the events surrounding the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing, the film will see Bacon play Special Agent in Charge, Richard DesLauriers, of the FBI. He joins Monaghan as well as Mark Wahlberg (Deepwater Horizon), John Goodman (10 Cloverfield Lane) and J.K Simmons (Whiplash).

Peter Berg (Deepwater Horizon) is directing from a script by Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies), which “will follow the events leading up to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and its aftermath, including the city-wide manhunt to find the terrorists behind it.”

“Richard DesLauriers worked tirelessly as one of the key figures in an impossibly sophisticated investigation and Kevin Bacon possesses the intelligence and empathy to portray him,” said director Berg on Bacon’s casting.

Patriot’s Day is set for release on December 21st.
