Kevin Feige confirms that Blade, Black Panther 2, Guardians Vol. 3, Captain Marvel 2 and Fantastic Four will come in Phase Five

July 21, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Having brought the Infinity Saga to an end with Avengers: Endgame (now officially the biggest movie of all time) and Spider-Man: Far From Home, Marvel Studios took to Hall H of the San Diego Comic-Con International yesterday to announce its Phase Four slate to the world.

During the panel, it was announced that Black Widow, Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder will all hit cinemas in 2020 and 2021, while the Phase will also expand to the small screen with the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, What If…? and Hawkeye.

Those weren’t the only projects announced however, as Kevin Feige ended the panel by confirming that Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Captain Marvel 2 are in the works, along with reboots of Fantastic Four and Blade – the latter of which is set to feature Oscar-winner (and former Luke Cage star) Mahershala Ali as the Daywalker.

Speaking to Collider following the panel, Feige confirmed that Phase Four will run for just two years, beginning with Black Widow and ending with Thor: Love and Thunder, with Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Captain Marvel 2, Fantastic Four and Blade then coming as part of Phase Five.

“It is the complete Phase Four the way I announced the complete Phase Three five years ago—things can move, things can change as they did if you go back and look at what we talked about five years ago for Phase Three, but we’ve been working on this for quite a while and it’s pretty set,” said Feige. “But there are always changes possible.”

It’s worth noting that the initial Phase Three slate did receive a shake-up following its announcement, with Marvel adding Spider-Man: Homecoming, Ant-Man and the Wasp and Spider-Man: Far From Home, and dropping the planned Inhumans movie. But, as it stands at the moment, the next two years of the MCU’s slate looks to be set in stone. Let us know what you make of it in the comments below, or tweet us @FlickeringMyth…
