Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer joins Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel

September 28, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Fresh from her Emmy success where she was the recipient of the Best Drama Actress award for the BBC series Killing Eve, Jodie Comer is now set to star alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in The Last Duel, the next film from director Ridley Scott.

The Last Duel is a revenge story set in the 14th century and follows a Norman knight who returns from war to learn that his friend has been accused of raping his wife (played by Comer). With no one believing the woman, the knight appeals to the King of France to challenge the friend in a duel to the death.

Damon and Affleck have co-written the script for The Last Duel with Nicole Holofcener (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) and are producing alongside Scott. The revenge drama was originally set up at Fox, although Disney (who picked up the project through its acquisition of the studio) is yet to give it the official green light – presumably due to the subject matter. However, Scott, Damon and Affleck are looking to begin production early in the New Year, and it is believed that the package should have no trouble finding a new home should Disney opt against moving forward.

Comer is about to begin shooting the third season of Killing Eve, and will be seen on the big scren next year alongside Ryan Reynolds in the action-adventure comedy Free Guy.
