Legally Blonde prequel series finds its young Elle

February 15, 2025 by Gary Collinson

Last year it was announced that Amazon had granted a series order to a Legally Blonde prequel series from Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production company, and now comes word that Lexi Minetree (The Murdaugh Murders) is set to portray a young Elle Woods in Prime Video’s Elle.

“Allow me to introduce you to the new Elle Woods,” revealed Witherspoon on social media. “After watching so many incredible auditions for the new Elle prequel series on @PrimeVideo, we finally found our Elle. And today, I got to break the news myself! Meet @LexiMintree.”

Elle has been created by Laura Kittrell (High School, Insecure) and will serve as a prequel to the hit 2001 comedy and its 2003 sequel, following a young Elle Woods” in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film”.

“Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity in ways that only our beloved Elle could do,” Witherspoon previously stated upon the series’ initial announcement.

As yet, there’s no word on a potential premiere date for Elle, but 2026 would seem a good bet.
