Love Life cancelled and pulled from HBO Max alongside Westworld and The Nevers

December 13, 2022 by Ricky Church

As WBD CEO David Zaslav continues his cuts across the board, HBO Max has cancelled the dramedy Love Life after two seasons. Not only that, the series has already been pulled from HBO Max along with all four seasons of Westworld and the first half of The Nevers.

Love Life was an anthology series which followed characters navigating their relationships and romances as they tried finding love. The first season focused on Anna Kendrick’s Darby with the actress making a couple small appearances in the second season as the show shifted to William Jackson Harper’s Marcus.

The show was one of the first original scripted series ordered for HBO Max when the streamer was announced and received much praise from critics and audiences, particularly for season two. A third season had been discussed, but was never given a green light. Whether or not the two seasons will appear on HBO or whatever streamer WBD will debut with its merger is not known at this time.

A big surprise, though, is Westworld being pulled from the service. Though the series was recently cancelled after its fourth season, one season before its planned fifth and final season, it was still a fairly popular one for HBO Max and one of the studios headlining series since its debut in 2016. The series could end up back on HBO proper, though it is entirely possible Zaslav could lease the rights of the series to another streaming service in order to make some profit back.

The Nevers, meanwhile, had aired half of its first season with the second half getting ready to debut in the future. WBD’s decision brings a formal cancellation to the Victorian sci-fi fantasy series, bringing it to an end with Season 1B designed as a conclusion to the series. The second half of the season will debut on whatever platform the studio introduces next with the merger.
