Mad Max: Fury Road star Zoe Kravitz offers her thoughts on Furiosa being recast for the prequel

June 19, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Recently, it was revealed that director George Miller is currently developing a Mad Max: Fury Road prequel solely focused on a younger Furiosa while recasting the character which was previously played by Charlize Theron.

Now, in an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Fury Road star Zoe Kravitz has offered her thoughts on the recasting news while praising her time working with Miller.

“If I recall correctly he always spoke about wanting to do a Furiosa prequel. I didn’t know he was going to recast her. Look man, if I learned anything from being in Fury Road its shut up and trust George Miller. I’m just gonna shut my mouth and say go to work maestro because I don’t know what else I can say to that man.”

According to Miller, recasting Charlize Theron wasn’t his original plans for the prequel as he previously considered using de-ageing special effects before scrapping that idea in favour of a younger actress. Recent reports have claimed Miller is eyeing Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch, Glass) for the role.

Although we don’t know much regarding the Furiosa prequel, Miller has confirmed the film will be set around 20 years prior to the events of Mad Max: Fury Road.
